The multitalented Cesarius Alvim presents Contrapunctus, an album of duos for bass and piano where Alvim plays both parts. Best known for his trio work, playing bass with pianist Martial Solal and drummer Daniel Humair, Alvim has recently been branching out as a soloist. His recent albums for Fremeaux have found Alvim playing both piano and bass, paired with such stars as Eddie Gomez and Eric Le Lann. Contrapunctus, dedicated to Gomez and Martial Solal, is gorgeous.
