Even lighter blue Tanzanite is distinct, unique and beautiful and my eye grades the Tanzanite as A blue. Setting is Platinum plated to .925 Sterling Silver making the band hypoallergenic to most. Tanzanite is often called the “Gemstone of a Generation”, as the only mines in the Merelani Foothills of Tanzania opened in the late 1960s and were closed in 2019. The gemstone is pleochroic violet and blue and shows flecks of red in candlelight. Lower heat treatment is applied to almost all Tanzanite today like colored diamonds.
